Waiting for the off
Grandson was given a driving experience for his 10th birthday back in January and today was the day
Lots of hanging around waiting, one lap of the track with another driver to familarise himself with the track then back ready for the real thing.
He had selected an Evo X (or maybe 10) as his drive car. I could not express an opinion as I had never heard of it. I did suggest of the cars available the "General Lee" from the Dukes of Hazard (blank looks from almost everyone), a James Bond Aston Martin or the Batmobile would have been good choices but I appeared to be in the minority.
The car appeared, father took son over to make sure everything was OK and then they were off. Father did not return to us as, we later discovered, he got in the back seat and went round the track as a passenger. He loved it as did the boy. Stupid looking beaming smiles all over their faces when they returned from three laps of the track.
The car was automatic so no problems with gears. He got up to 70mph, "amazingly fast" and was complemented by the instructor for the smooth ride.
BBQ in the late afternoon and, hopefully, an early night
