2701. Le Shuttle!
We’ve had a very busy and tiring day’s travelling from Luton to Brussels today. This is our tour coach going on to Le Shuttle which we’ve never done before. I’ve been on the train but never on a coach put on a carriage on a train!
We had a bit of excitement at the terminal as all of our coaches were heading across the channel. There’s always a bit of rivalry between the coaches and as we set off to get loaded on to the train, our coach driver just nudged ahead of a neighbouring coach so we arrived at the French customs ahead of them. Whilst we were in getting our passports stamped there was an almighty crunch from outside and the coach at the rear had crashed into the coach behind ours…the rear windscreen on the coach behind ours and the front wind screen on the one that crashed into it were both broken and there was a lot of debris on the floor. We were all a bit shocked, mainly because had our driver not sneaked in front, that would have been our coach being hit…
Our drivers were also a bit shocked too and when we asked if the people would get an alternative coach and still get away, they thought not. Thankfully I don’t think anyone was injured which was a blessing so it could have been much worse. I think the coach driver at the rear just wasn’t paying attention and thankfully they weren’t driving at high speed…just fast enough to cause a lot of damage!
Just had the most expensive bowl of soup ever in a hotel and hubby was horrified that his beer was about €8.50 a pint! Onwards to Bremen tomorrow and finally able to unpack for a few nights.
