There Are No Rules!

My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,

Caro is thinking about buying a Toyota Yaris.

This is because her driving instructor's daughter is about to have twins and so needs to get rid of her little car pronto.

Caro is still musing. It is very handy for her, and the price is pretty good. On the other hand, she had a go in it today but came back saying only, "It was fiiiiiiiiine." Without much conviction.

We shall see.

For myself, I had a much more convincing experience with Everything Everywhere All At Once. I have been wanting to see this for some time but managed to miss it completely the ONE EFFING WEEK that it appeared to be on at the cinema.

Fortunately, the internet is a kind and wonderful place.

And the film lived up to my expectations. I absolutely loved it. It may be my favourite film in years. Which is why a photo from it being projected onto my wall is today's blip.

I'm trying to think how to describe it.

It's like if Charlie Kaufman wrote a Bruce Lee movie. Or if Terry Gilliam directed a Steven Chow film. But that doesn't do it justice. Let me try again.

It's a bit like "The Matrix". If people in The Matrix had to do kung fu while there are things stuck up their bum.

I am not making this up.

Or if people in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" used pomeranians as weapons.

Still not making this up.

Or if "2001: A Space Odyssey" featured apes with hot-dog sausages for fingers.

Seriously.

In the film Michelle Yeoh (who I have loved since "Tomorrow Never Dies") is menaced by Jamie Lee Curtis (who I have loved since "Halloween"). Michelle plays a woman who owns a failing laundry and Jamie Lee plays an evil IRD agent with a bad haircut and a horrible orange sweater. But then things start to happen. All at once.

It's a very sweet-natured, funny, clever, sci-fi action movie that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when it was done. Without spoiling everything for everyone all at once, I will just say that the film is about realising that nothing matters except everything.

There are no rules.
