A yellow Rose of Cobham - backblip

We had a very tedious journey down to friends in Cobham - over 5 hours, but I suppose when you chose to drive that journey on a Friday afternoon, then you should accept such a thing - anyway it was very tedious.

We haven't seen these lovely friends for 10 years when we were at their previous house celebrating C's 80th birthday.  Neither he nor his wife J have changed one bit (C now nearly 90) and our tedious journey was quickly forgotten after admiring their gorgeous new house and garden, - 10 years of catching up and a welcome fish 'n' chip supper.

C used to be a flat race jockey and is still a lover of the sport in both its forms, flat and steeplechase and is hoping to exercise a racehorse on the gallops on his 90th Birthday.  He's also a keen golfer and at the Sandown Park Golf Club a statue of a jockey, which used to proudly stand in the grounds, was found to have been vandalised.  C  calls her Rachael Blackmore (the first woman jockey to win the Grand National and also the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle last year, the Champion Hurdle and the Gold Cup at Cheltenham this year.) He  brought her home and she is currently residing in the garage awaiting restoration by C.

We're down here for my Great Niece's wedding tomorrow which we're looking forward to and it promises to be a lovely day, weather wise.
