One day at a time

Fishing

Down by the river a fisherman tries his luck.
I don’t fish, only tried it once as a boy, never again.
I’ve observed many on the North Tyne hereabouts. I’ve never seen anybody fish here before. The opposite bank is often fished by a retired doctor who knows the river. Others fish higher up the river (to the left) but most with limited success. Numbers of sea trout and salmon have been low of late and the angling clubs insist fish are thrown back. There are some exclusive beats nearby, owned by the Duke of Northumberland and other wealthy land owners - as well as shooting and hunting with dogs. None of this interests most of us.
