Red Rock Canyon

Just a short drive from our son's house is this beautiful conservation area with many hiking trails.  We left the house early to get a hike in before we were needed for the kids.  My husband handed me a drink to take while hiking and since I had just had one, I declined and left it in the car.  We had chosen a fairly short hike of only about 1.5 miles, but it got hot very fast and I was a pretty sad sack by the time we finished. I will not do that next time. 

My son can see these beautiful mountains from his yard, as his house is in the foothills of the canyon.  The number of desert flowers blooming was truly amazing.  I have included some cactus flowers in extra.
