Roses ...

... are coming, on the large bushes along our driveway--a vivid harbinger of summer. Poking around on the net, I found that Everything's coming up roses  is the title of a song from the 1957 musical Gypsy, with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (1930-2021). A wonderful connection of sorts with our marvelous rose bushes

Roland Garros (the French tennis open started yesterday). We watched a good deal of Raphael Nadal's match with Jordan Thompson (Spain vs. Australia).  'Thompson"s conspicuous black mustache made him seem quite a character, and he seemed to play on that, often staring directly into the camera.
