David Best and Sanctuary
I visited David Best's Sanctuary structure that has been built in the Miner's Welfare Park in Bedworth.
This has been constructed to celebrate the lives of those lost due to Covid and also those who selflessly worked to protect and save those who fell ill. People are invited to leave their own little memories, some of which are shown here.

David posed, as artists do to let me take a portrait of him with his work behind. He then spoke at length with invited school children and went out of his way to ensure that anyone with disability of any kind got to see inside the structure before it was opened to everyone later in the day.
The whole structure is scheduled to be set alight at sunset on Saturday. Should be spectacular. Many people kept saying it's such a waste - a sentiment that is hard to find fault, but then, this is an artist at work. Things and actions have meaning.
David lives in California and was invited here to create this structure and event. He has done similar things back in his own country.
