Marlborough (Sunday 22nd May 2022)
The Waterfront Gardens beside the River Kennet are bursting with springlike activity at the moment. The water voles are back, the swan family have four cygnets, otter spraint has been found there and there is a mallard pair with at least seven tiny ducklings.
I was there on Sunday after I had done some Waitrose shopping and saw the ducks from the riverside and bridge. The swans and water voles were not in view but I was shown exactly where to see the water voles at two sites on the river when they are active.
I had a day off from taking photographs on Saturday, although I spent quite some time working on Friday's Pewsham Locks shots, so I am still catching up.
