Not for the hoi polloi

There are around thirty large communal gardens in Edinburgh’s New Town, many of which are accessible to key holders only - local residents who pay an annual fee for privileged entry to these oases of calm in the city.

The common folk can only stand at the gate and imagine what lies beyond.
