TOMATO VOLUNTEER

I have been a complete failure at growing tomatoes, these last few years. It is a long, frustrating tale, so this year, I decided to plant all flowers instead. My son, who is the tomato wizard, grows heirloom tomatoes from seed; and has a bumper crop every year. He has sent me fancy tomato pots & supports, special fertilizer but, with very little to show for it.

Much to my surprise, this tomato volunteer is growing in a pot of Gardenias. It is a mystery how it got there, but seems quite happy in morning sun. Since there are several flowers, I may have a few tomatoes after all.

I do love volunteer plants that happily
pop up in surprising places….
