Floods and Fishing
It rained HARD all night, and into the morning, so we started the day with hot toast and Junior Monopoly (we each won one game).
By mid-morning it had eased off, but all the burns were in spate so we set off exploring to see where they were coming from and enjoy all the wee torrents and waterfalls where usually there are only trickles. Walking up towards the wee loch we spotted an Otter out and about. It ran off once it saw us, but we watched it for a few minutes and in the still drizzle it was rather magical.
We did a loop and went down to the shore to inspect where the burn meets the sea, and saw a seal. We made some noise and it came over to inspect us, so we watched a while.
After lunch (CyclopsJnr was very proud to do the washing up himself!) we decided to go fishing. It's a bit early in the season for mackerel, but if you don't try you don't get, and we had great fun. CyclopsJnr managed so well - he used to need a lot of attention when fishing but now he's completely independent so it's very relaxing and companionable.
The pier at Badentarbet serves the island of Tanera Mor (which is being re-built as a luxury resort) and a succession of expensive-looking RIBs and tenders was shuttling back and forth. Moored in the bay at Tanera was the yacht EOS - one of the world's largest sailing vessels apparently worth over $200m. Mind you, once upon a time the Royal Yacht Britannia cruised these waters... It's all a bit out of our league...
We headed back and played some more games before dinner and bedtime.
