Living my dream

Back on the tools

The day off was lovely, but I struggled to sleep last night. My body isn’t used to little physical activity any more.

So I was happily back into the garden today: shovelling, digging and mowing. Yes, mowing! I have never cut the grass in late May before. Usually it has long stopped growing. But the warm weather and lack of frost have led to unseasonal growth.

We did have a tiny frost this morning of -0.5 degrees. Woohoo.

The first half of the morning was too chilly to spend outdoors, so I made a savoury pumpkin pie from a recipe I found in the New York Times. Lunch was accordingly delicious.

The blip is of the holes I’ve been digging steadily, into which will go various native trees in the next few days. I’m glad to have got them done: planting is the easy (and much more satisfying) bit of the process.
