The Very Hungry Caterpillars

...are back.

This part of the blackthorn hedge behind the zoo has disappeared in 4 days and the destruction continues.

It's the work of the ermine moth caterpillar - a native species, read more about it here.  The silken webs are quite eerie, there's a close up photo in extras.
