Wilcannia to Broken Hill
Back blip 2
This is typical of the countryside but this is much greener than normal after good autumn rains.
We have travelled about 600km over the last two days and passed 2 towns (Cobar and Wilcannia) 1 village ( Hermidale) 2 truck stops one shearing shed and 2 houses. There is nothing else. The large stations ( probably sheep stations) are set back from the highway so you can’t see them. We haven’t even reached the centre yet so I’m wondering what that will be like. We have phone reception here in Broken Hill, where we are having morning tea so I’m posting a few blips while Bob goes into the supermarket. 2 litres of milk was $5.80 in Wilcannia. No wonder the locals drink coke. Diesel was $2.25/litre.
We are staying at the Starview campsite which has a couple of good toilets and showers but no power or internet. It is near the famous hill top sculptures site so we might go up there later. I had to resort to reading a book this morning as there was nothing else to do. All the jobs were done early.
Tomorrow we are heading off to Crystal Brook in South Australia.( addition…. This is a back blip so we didn’t go to SA until 28th)
