Insect Day
Today our local grandchildren had an INSET day - known by some as Insect Day! Our two were on the doorstep at 0730 ready for an adventure! It was a beautiful day as we headed into the Cotswolds. Our 9 year old is a great map reader. He learns his skills at his weekly Cubs meetings. He was very keen to show us his recent hike on what he sweetly called an Audience Survey map!!
Our objective today was NT Hidcote, beyond Broadway. We were there quite early and began with a hilarious tennis session. Next time we’ll try the croquet! Then we went newt spotting and found six, but none was crested. The boys were fascinated by this and the dragon flies emerging from their pupae. Our quest to find the grass snakes, sadly drew a blank!
After a picnic lunch we played more tennis, walked and ran over two miles through the wonderful gardens, parkland and woods. We enjoyed ice creams before heading home.
A very happy “insect” day indeed!
