St Martin’s Cathedral, Ieper

It’s staggering to realise that this beautiful building, like the rest of the city, was entirely rebuilt after 1920. Thankfully Churchill’s plan to leave the ruins as a memorial was outvoted and Ieper is a living, working home for thousands of people, as well as a place of remembrance.
