Highway to the Danger Zone
My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,
Caro was SO EXCITED. We took the train into town and met up with similarly-excited Mo and Tiger and Manda and Jefe.
Manda and Jefe had actually Tom-Cruised into town on his motorbike. Having misread my texts, he thought the film started at 12:30 not 12. And when the penny dropped, he and Manda got on his bike and ZIPPED into town, head down, and Kenny Loggins playing on their in-helmet headphones.
It sounded very exciting.
I would have sh*t in my pants.
As for the movie itself, it did not disappoint. I say this as someone who wasn't that bothered about the original. But I know that Caro LOVED the original film and so she adored this. Even I could tell that this new film has been made with Caros in mind.
And I must admit I enjoyed it too. It was fun. And actually funny. And once again the six of us came out of the cinema full of chat and enthusiasm.
Afterward we made our way to a New Orleans themed place. And Manda - as our resident gourmand - wondered if they had Sazerac. It's some sort of whisky/absinthe cocktail, mixed up with bitters and sugar and then Kylie appears.
As it turns out, they did! Along with gumbo, jambalaya and po' boy sandwiches. So naturally I had the breakfast burrito.
"Chicken," said El Jefe.
As for the sazerac. "It kind of tastes like dirt," I told Manda.
"That's the absinthe," she told me. "They've got the balance off."
So they DID have a sazerac. Just not a good sazerac. My breakfast burrito, on the other hand, was delicious.
S.
