I-Con
I deal with a lot of architecture in my job.
A lot of architects at the moment are, to my mind, taking the lazy route and producing anonymous buildings that could easily be demolished in the future without anyone shedding a tear or probably even noticing.
Has to be said that I think Liverpool is producing some stunners, and Manchester's Spinningfields has a great coherent feel to it... but this 1970's chap at the top of Deansgate is one that only I seem to love. Its the repetition, the funky, slightly bizarre, windows and the contrast of the lift section.
I really do fear though that the first decade of the 21st century will be remembered architecturally mainly for the laziness of the big glass lump.
