Rubi Sura

Well this was by far my he best day of the year, possibly this decade.
We were up and off early, on the road by 6.30, and after a brief coffee/viewpoint stop at Wallensee, in Brigels by 9.15. our friends had already arrived, and had breakfast on the table. This will be the last weekend to stay at this lovely holiday flat, as it has been sold now. After breakfast we drove up to Alp Quader, where we could park quite high up, then set off towards the Bifertenhütte, and Rubi Sura. Straight away we were walking through an almost psychedelic landscape, with just a ridiculous palette of spring alpine flowers. Gentian violets were everywhere, pink alpine primula, cowslips, snowbells all forms of buttercups. Very soon we heard the shouts of the marmots, letting each other know we were on the path. Sat and watched them for a while, even got a photo of two kissing, so sweet!
We reached the little hut at Rubi Sura ready for a snack, while scouring the amazing rock faces and tiers of grassy slopes above Frisal for any Steinbock or Gämse. At first we were blind, then quickly we noticed a large group, of Steinbock, really not far away. We headed up towards the hut, were we found a perch to observe them for quite some time, there were around 30 in the group, and weren't phased by us. We were so lucky that they are quite low down, I'm sure this will all change when the cows are back up here in the next couple of weeks. We headed back down, and with regret back to the car, but on the way seeing more marmot antics. Drove a little way down the mountain, then for a special coffee at the beautiful Buerli alp restaurant on the way. 
We decided to go out for dinner, at the Alpina restaurant in Brigels, it was fantastic, and the added attraction was the village brass band playing a set in the village before dessert. Back to the flat for chatting and a glass of wine, sharing photos of our really wonderful day together, and with the Steinbock.
