Bloesemtocht

Today we took part in the Bloesemtocht, or Blossom walk at Geldermalsen in the Netherlands.

This is a walk through a cherry growing area at the height of the blossom period, today was the 21st year this has taken place and about 25,000 people walked the various length walks between 8 and 40 kilometers. We walked 15km which for me was long enough.

All the money raised goes to the Dutch Rode Kruis (Red Cross) charity organization.

Unfortunately this year the extended cold weather means that there is almost no blossom at all yet, just one or tow trees in the most sheltered sunny areas show any sign of blossom at all.

Today was sunny but cold, I wonder if the trees have time to catch up now in time for their normal fruiting time, or of this years crop is going to be either late or very small.
