Peacock at Byron's (back blip)
This fine peacock was taking advantage of the lack of customers at the cafe at Newstead Abbey to show off his plumage on one of the tables. The Abbey - once the home of Lord Byron - is one of my childhood places, as it's only a couple of miles from my grandparents' former house in Ravenshead near Mansfield.
I believe that my great grandfather and botanist W A Clark had a hand in designing the alpine garden there; he's not mentioned in the guidebook, but my grandmother told me he had, and as his daughter, she's a trustworthy source, I feel.
