Quince Honey Farm

We met my niece and family at the honey farm at South Morton . We’d booked the complete programme of talks . It was excellent- an introduction to the new site which they are developing, followed by a seed planting opportunity- we chose a radish and sunflower. Radishes provide flowers to pollinate for about 15 weeks if left to bolt. Afterwards we had a fascinating talk on bee keeping with close circuit monitoring of the Queen and the activity in the hive . Then, we saw how the honey was produced in the bottling area and we had five honeys to taste - Devon, Rapeseed, Exmoor and Scottish heather. We liked the Scottish and Devon best . Finally, we had an opportunity to roll our own candles from the wax starter sheets .
My great nieces loved it. We all picnicked together then went to visit their campsite at Lyndon . I really miss camping .
We finished the day with supper at The Blue Ball Countisbury .
We will see them all again on Saturday when we’ll join them for the Jubilee celebrations at Stourport.
