Red meadow
Our big field is ruddy with sorrel, an acid plant of acid soil. It needs liming.
The farmer we rent it too usually takes a cut for silage but I'm not sure if he will this year.
Sorrel is one of those mysterious horse colours like dun and bay and roan. I thought I'd check it out but I ended up more confused. For example
All sorrels are chestnuts but all chestnuts aren't sorrels.
See here for example but the genetics of horse colours are VERY complex.
I've just remembered that this location was my #onefield many moons ago but I haven't blipped it since 2019..
