Papaver somniferum Hungarian Blue
This a gorgeous big coloured poppy and there are always a scattering of them across the allotment site. I suspect a lot of them have come from seeds scattered from the plot of an elderly gardener. I believe she lived in one of the nearby warden assisted homes and spent her days digging her allotment but never getting around to planting anything except that her constant digging disturbed the soil and scattered the seeds of this poppy. I like to think she did it on purpose. It's a lovely way to be remembered.
