abandoned

an abandoned orchard just across the road. It once would have been part of a farmhouse garden. The farmhouse is now a crumbling ruin, and the trees surrounding it are overgrown, crowded, and I think, dying.

The extra today is more abandonment. There was a shipping container right next to our side fence in the neighbouring property. In the last few days it's been removed. We now have a better view outside our kitchen window - but a bee colony that made it's home in the container over the past summer has been summarily turfed out; I guess not surprisingly.
The combs were dumped on the ground exposed to the elements, and the residents are desperately protecting the queen which must still be inside. It was raining and less than 4 degrees C last night and probably even colder tonight. I don't hold out much hope.
