Flowers!
I saw these as I walked through the village to my Dad's this morning and took a couple of phone shots of them as I thought they looked quite pretty. My photos did not do them justice in the slightest and were disappointingly dull. So I have gone a bit OTT with this in Picasa and I quite like the result!
Quite a few houses in the village are decked up for the big Jubilee weekend (See extra!) I make no secret of the fact that I'm anti - monarchy and I think money spent on Jubilee celebrations could be put to better use when so many are struggling. I also think lavish, wealth-flaunting parades are in very bad taste in the current climate. That is just my view. The Queen herself has my respect for the dignity with which she performs her role but I really think she should be the last monarch we have.
Also, this return to imperial measurements is a bit strange isn't it? It's not like you couldn't still buy a pint of beer and a pound of sausages! Most younger people will be used to metric and will not want a "return" to something they barely recall! Schools will have to start teaching the 12 times table again!
My Dad was OK - no Question Time to rant at today and he would be happy with a return to imperial measurements as he never stopped using them anyway! I just hope we don't have to go back to £ s d! (Never did understand why pence was represented by d!)
I'll go back there on Friday since the trains will be running as standard - I will have a lift home though which is good as I have work at night! After that I'm off for the weekend with live Rugby at Castleford on Saturday and seeing Jeri and the family on Sunday to look forward to!
