Trewidden Garden, Cornwall

Penlee House Gallery and Museum in Penzance showcases the local area well.  It was 'rehanging' week so the art displays were more limited but we still saw a very good selection from the Newlyn School of artists.

We had a bit of an adventure getting to Trewidden Garden on the local buses (once every couple of hours, no pavements, no obvious stop but very helpful and obliging drivers).  It's one of the 'great gardens of Cornwall'  with collections of magnolias, camellias and tree ferns.

We walked from Newlyn to Mousehole on another stretch of the undulating South West Coastal Path .  As we were approached the village we realised there was a race on and later found out it was the Lizard to Land's End 44 mile ultra - brutal!  Mousehole is a very attractive harbour village.  We had a dinner in the Mousehole Deli & Kitchen.  It was a novelty to see the fish dishes naming the actual boats that had brought in the catch!
