Grasses

Totally different blip today from yesterday’s elegant locomotive Poplar. It was very popular with you. Thank you for all your lovely comments.

Todays blip was in the bag before breakfast as I went outside to put out all the plants that we’re hardening off. I noticed the great array of water droplets clinging to stems of the grasses around the pond from yesterday’s torrential rain.

Much calmer atmosphere today even though the forecast was for more showers. It was pleasantly warm in the sun down at the allotment.

I was there weeding, sowing swedes, clearing a compost heap of nettles and netting the strawberries. We’ve about got on top of the patch which was looking very overgrown after our three weeks in California.

Susan meanwhile, was planting up summer bedding in containers and large pots and cutting down the Virginia creeper which has mysteriously died.

The creeper has been a feature of the garden ever since we’ve lived here. It was ok in the autumn and little buds had formed. When we returned from America, the whole massive plant had died. We can’t work out why. These creepers are usually indestructible.

Hope you have an enjoyable long bank holiday Jubilee what ever you’re doing.
