Checking the route.
Saturday was payback time. It was my turn to do a bit of marshalling on a LDWA event. The runners/walkers had a choice of doing 3 routes of 21/13 or 9 miles over the hills and tarns in the Grasmere area.
Unlike fell running or lots of other events it's just about finishing when you can get your certificate and or badge and tuck into pie and peas, a mug of tea and on this occasion a slice of Grasmere Gingerbread.
It was great to see all the smiling faces as they approached the checkpoint and even better to accept all there thanks for being there to guide them on and hand out the Jelly Babies.
These 3 entrants where taking on the 21 mile route which included about 6000ft of accent.
