Marble tears

Today we set from the Red Tower off to walk round the walls but it didn’t take long for us to decide it wasn’t for us.  On one side there is nothing to stop you falling a few feet off the side.  Ro has always hated heights and I was feeling a bit iffy too.  We gave up at Walmgate and set off into town. We came across a wonderful shop : Loft Find. So many wonderful bits and pieces All out on the deep paving area.  Ro found a lion, big enough for a child to sit on its back!  No we didn’t!

On into town and stopped for a drink and shared an ice-cream made using liquid nitrogen, with thick cream and frozen virtually instantly it was so silky! Delicious!

After our rest there we were off to visit York Minster.  What a wonderful building!  There was an exposition about Grinling Gibbons Info here.
300 years since he died! So I thought his tears, carved in marble should be my main blip.  As an extra I loved this shop window and the book hanging above the door! To represent so many little shops in York!  A great place for tourists there were no lack of them.  We stopped for a late lunch at Wagamamas! There were no lack of Jubilee window decorations: it was marvellous!  Now to watch the events in London on TV!   Happy jubilee folks!

I have added a couple of shots from our walk on the walls.  One of the beautiful stone found in York buildings!  So beautiful, but soft and highly eroded here!
