Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Damien Hirst's 'The Virgin Mother' at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. I'm ambivalent about this piece; I guess it's disturbing in the way that DH intended. Today I liked the incongruous mixture: the giant figure, the various different preoccupations of the people beside her.

Val and I went to YSP for a walk, taking advantage of today's lovely weather. Val says she's finding the Ukraine news unbearable to listen to, and I see what she means. I still feel, though, that there is  a need to 'bear witness', in that old-fashioned phrase. And of course to support solidarity and aid organisations where possible.
