Holiday day 2
We start our day with breakfast in the sunshine overlooking the the racecourse. Then at 9 30 we walk up to the small railway station to begin our nostalgic ride on the steam train, the sounds and smells bring back memories of bygone days. Our train today is the majestic “Black Prince”.
We take our seats and settle the boys down and with a spurt of steam we are off on the 14 mile trip through the beautiful Cotswolds. We stop at some lovely little stations on the way and go through two tunnels and over a viaduct finally arriving in Broadway.
The little town is teaming with people celebrating the Jubilee and every piece of grass was taken up with picnickers, everyone was so friendly.
After a spot of lunch we head back to the station and return to Phoebe. You’d think our day ended there but we decided on a drive to the picturesque village of Bibury and had a walk along the river again everyone’s in a party mood.
Tonight hundreds of beacons up and down the country are lit to celebrate the The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
My extras no 1: in and around the station. No 2: lots of happy people. No 3: views of Bibury and a damsel fly who obliged us with it’s presence.
