DNA
In its DNA
Cambridge does like its association with the discovery of the structure of DNA. They’ve even painted a path to represent the proteins – see the extra for details.
Walk
We took the train to Cambridge this morning and walked through Great Shelford, Stapleford and Sawston to Whittlesford then Duxford, and finished at Whittlesford Parkway, where we got the train home.
The pub
We were disappointed by a pub in Stapleford because, contrary to normal in-the-sticks pubs, it opened at three (as opposed to closing at three). It wasn’t even noon when we got there.
When we got to Whittlesford, we headed for the pub, hoping it would be open. The John Barleycorn was to let, and we weren’t confident that the Tickell Arms would be open because it was after three by then. It turned out that they were very much open – and were having a jubilee beer festival. Well, it would’ve been rude not to, so we did.
