The Red Eft's Amazing Journey
The woods of central Pennsylvania feel like the great American rainforest these days. It was drizzling when I went to the Barrens, everything was damp, and the humidity felt like it was at least 100%. Oh, and there are mosquitoes there; and they will BITE YOUR FACE.
On my Mahala walk, I ran into a fellow traveler. It was a tiny red eft, which is the juvenile, terrestrial phase of the eastern spotted newt. The eft was on walkabout, in the middle of the trail, and so I moved it off to a safer place. Here is a photo of the red eft on its amazing journey!
The soundtrack song is this one: The Who, with Amazing Journey.
