Wildflowers amongst the olive trees
It's been a very hot day today. Fortunately we had decided to make an early start for a walk along the coast to the small village of Lefokastro. It was a delightful walk especially with all the flowers in blossom. Yesterday we walked past a long hedge of Jasmine. Anyway today l was taken by the grasses and then this olive grove full of various wildflowers. We had a coffee as soon as we arrived and speculated that little had changed since our last visit several years ago. Just a rather old fashioned taverna had closed. If l can add an extra using my phone it will show the view from here including the row of squid or octopus drying in the sun in the distance on a rack above the sea.
We then had several swims before lunch back in the cafe. It wasn't very busy as it's only the start of the season so we spent some time chatting with the owner whose wife is expecting their first child in a few weeks time. As it was still very hot we walked to a nearby church where we sat and read in the shade before heading back a bit later. Stopping off for water As we approached Afyssos we spotted a long row of dolphins swimming along the shore they looked like a wave at first sight. A lovely relaxing day despite the heat it's apparently been 31C which is unusual for this time of year.
