Blakeney
This morning I woke up to sunshine and birdsong - dunnock, goldfinch, linnet and house sparrow if my wonderful new app is to be believed - the Cornell Lab Merlin app which records bird songs and tells you which bird it is from.
Luke and Gavin went out sailing as it was high tide. Around the coast of England sailing is dictated by the tides, but in an area as flat as Norfolk the tides are more pronounced where they seem to come in at a lick and recede just as quickly. It was very windy and they enjoyed an hour or so of sailing.
When they got back we left for our walk. We walked from Blakeney, where I took this photo, to Cley. It was very windy today and the wind was cool. In fact it seems to always be windy here at the coast. We had lunch at a pub in Cley, it was okay but not as good as I expected.
En route back to the house we stopped off at Burnham Market where there was a live band playing and people were sitting in the sunshine enjoying the music - see extra. It had a nice lively atmosphere and was lovely to walk around enjoying the Jubilee weekend spirit.
When I got home I started preparing the salad and food for tonight's BBQ. Our house is in a development of five houses and tonight we were all getting together to celebrate the Jubilee by having a BBQ outside. It was lovely to meet the neighbours we had not yet met, and fun to get to know each other over supper outside - although it was rather chilly. They are all so friendly and it was a lovely evening.
