Souls of women

During the summer, The City of Tampere offers around 200 musical events with 150 groups at different venues around Tampere free of charge. Today we were at Laikun lava, an old park of former main library.  

The audience gets to enjoy Finnish instrumental rock, traditional Finnish accordion music, choral singing, acoustic pop music and much more. Performers consist mainly of local recreational, pastime and sports organizations. 

Today there was three different bands and a lot of people cathered.The Finnish Defence Forces’ summer tour invites you to have a great time in eleven locations all over the country in 2022!

The tour in is being organized with music differing from blues to pop and rock to soul! In addition to listening music you can get a peek at modern military service by local divisions’ gear- and action shows. The Air Force Big Band plays the night’s first chords with Heikki Silvennoinen as their soloist. Silvennoinen is known for his remarkable blues guitarist- and singer career in many bands since the 70’s, as well as his role in the 90’s Finnish hit show ”Kummeli”.

The night continues with the military band and the trio ”Souls of Women” by Emilia Vihanto, Iina Mutikainen and Klaara Koivunen. The trio brings out the classics of soul music from Whitney Houston to The Weather Girls. The night ends with The Conscript Band of the Finnish Defence Forces’ Showband. The about 20-person band’s skill is in classic rock classics and groovy funks, as well as modern day pop- and rap hits. Lovely sunny evening, just great! Me and hubby found two seats and enjoyed our time there.
