Beach Day

Beautiful sunshine...not hot but extremely pleasant so, down to the beach with Tabitha, Daisy and Casper.
Lots of people stretching their legs and a few other dogs around. It was very pleasant and inevitably you meet people you know and stop for a "catch-up".
A sad story regarding No1 son...he doesn't believe in "normal" cars...always some sort of 4wd monster type truck and it is currently a Mitsubishi Challenger...giant for Guernsey anyway but then, he does have 2 flatties.
Yesterday he drove into our entrance with a trailer, removed the trailer and then turned the truck around so it was facing out.
Got in a little while later to go home and said...the steering doesn't work!
I said "no, that can't happen, it's a safety thing", but sure enough, you can spin the steering wheel freely, lock to lock and no response from the wheels!
I looked underneath and can see that the stainless steel coupling between the steering wheel and steering mechanism is sheared completely.
Now this is very sobering...what if it had happened while driving to our house, he could have careered into anybody or anything and it is a very heavy car. What if it happened on a motorway!!
Meanwhile, he has my car and I have a new garden ornament!!
