A mixed day.

Today was a baking day in preparation for jubilee celebrations at the village hall on Saturday. I also baked the cake for Linda's birthday also on Saturday, that will be finished off on the day as I'm using fresh cream and strawberries. My baking was interrupted by a phone call to say that my last remaining Uncle had died the previous afternoon. He was 106years and 5mths exactly! He had a long life, always living it to the full. He had been able to stay in his own home until the last few weeks spent in hospital. He was always the life and soul of the party and had made much of his life after starting it in a Foundling Hospital as an orphan over 100 years ago! Extra photos of him being presented to the queen at 102 at the hospital as the oldest surviving pupil. In later life he served in the Royal Engineers and spent times living abroad with his family, who have all passed away before him. Golf was a big love of his life still playing into his 90s. Also holidays at Sandbanks in Dorset where he went every year until he was 96, they always looked after him well! He will be missed by many but he certainly had a life to celebrate. RIP Uncle Ted ❤️
