…of the Mastodon (an extinct American elephant species) at Darmstadt State Museum, currently in the spotlight of a special exhibition. Excavated in the United States in 1801, the skeleton was sold to the Hessian capital some 50 years later and usually dominates the entrance of the museum’s department of natural history. - In the extra, a glimpse into the fine arts department, with Hans Christiansen’s painting of the artist’s house at Mathildenhöhe, the local Art Deco centre. Sadly this building was destroyed like most of the city in a WW2 air raid.
