Homeward bound - eventually!
Late last night I got an email saying that our train from Llanelli to Manchester had been cancelled. There was a train an hour later, so we had more time to have breakfast and get ready this morning. Decided to have a walk around the lovely lake at the bottom of the hotel garden. What a lovely facility for the locals and tourists alike. There are footpaths, cycle paths and sports facilities. The main image is the lake from the far end. Nobody else around and just swans, geese and ducks and lovely birdsong. Just beautiful. A stone circle is at the far side of the lake - no plaque so I investigated and it is a modern circle - Gorsedd Stones - groups of standing stones constructed for the National Eisteddfod of Wales. They are the hallmark of the National Eisteddfod having visited a community and can be found all over Wales. In extras - views from other parts of the lake and the stone circle. The later train was slightly delayed, and it stopped at nearly every station and got very crowded as there were only 3 carriages. We did have fun company though with a group going up to Manchester to see Queen in concert. The amount they drank I would have needed to go to bed upon arrival! We had missed our connections, but as we reached Manchester there was a Hull train about to leave. It passed through Leeds so we dashed through and just caught it. Got to Leeds and then our Skipton train was delayed! Still, the next one was already on the platform so we waited for that and thankfully it wasn’t too full. We were spotted by a friend and her daughter and so they collected their car and kindly gave us a lift home. Delay/Repay claim sent in to Transport for Wales, so we’ll see what happens.
