Scapa Flow
I cycled south of Kirkwall to Howequoy Head near the village of St Marys as I thought it might be a good spot to try for the orcas again. At one point they were back in Scapa Bay but turned south ie toward me- only to go back. It was a nice spot to sit, though. The most notable bird was an arctic skua. A couple of harbour seal were relaxed, no doubt unaware that the pod took one nearby yesterday. Later I cycled back to Scapa Pier and, although someone with a scope said the pod was out there- I could not make them out in binoculars. The oil rig isn't drilling, it is being refurbished, though it has been there a couple of years now.
