We Borrowed A Seabird Guide

Mrs W and I headed out first thing to Bempton Cliffs this morning. We had booked a session called ‘borrow a seabird guide’ to be sure of seeing the puffins. We were so lucky as we ended up with a guide to ourselves. We were guided by the really lovely Jo, who was so knowledgeable and interesting and absolutely made the 3 hours. She showed us gannets, razorbills, guillemots, fulmars and kittiwakes and of course puffins (see extras).

She then took us to the final treat which was to see the now regular visitor…the black browed albatross. The belief is that he got himself lost about 4 years ago and has remained, along with another living near Germany, as one of only two albatrosses in the Northern Hemisphere. It was very exciting! Shortly after we saw him, he disappeared back out to sea for the rest of the day.
