Time travel
When you crest the top of the hill after a 90 minute walk from Bangor on the trail that goes through the Ballycroy national park, you go down the trail for about two hundred meters and when you do a 360 turn there is absolutely no trace of civilisation. Nothing. Rien. Rien du tout. It's like traveling back in time. Not fifty years. Not a hundred. More like ten thousand years. You'd half expect to see a herd of woolly mammoths peacefully grazing down in the Forgotten Valley.
I love this place.
It's a bastard to get to but I love this place. It's the fact that it is a bastard to get to that makes it so special.
Didn't meet anyone, on a sunny Bank Holiday Sunday. That's how wild and isolated the place is.
I love this place.
