The End Of Jonah, The Beginning Of MIssion Trips

This morning at FBC was busy with endings and beginnings.  We started our service with congregational praise and worship led by Daniel and Gabe, accompanied by choir and orchestra and various other accompanists.  Then, the choir and orchestra blessed the congregation with a lively jazzy version of "Standing On The Promises".  After that, Pastor Wes took us into the fourth chapter of Jonah which probably ended differently than most of us expected. Oh, Jonah preached and the people of Nineveh repented of their wicked ways and turned to worship God, so that God relented and did not bring upon the punishment that He had said He would; but if you think that made Jonah happy, you would be wrong!  He was angry that God was not going to punish these evil people and he tells God about it.  To find out the rest of the details of the story, you ca watch the Live-stream, but the thing that stood out most to me is that we are told to go and tell  all people about the good news, not just those that we like----the good news of the gospel is to be offered to everyone everywhere and we are not responsible for their response, just their opportunity to hear it.  That is why we send our youth on summer mission trips and why we pray over them before they go, for safety, for open eyes and hearts to see the opportunities to share the good news about Jesus that  God puts in their path each day. Pick one of these young people to pray for every day.  God knows their name even if you don't and you will have a part in changing someone's life whether you ever know it or not.......
