Grass snake
The weather was really warm here today and Bill and I have been busy in the garden. In the winter the pond liner split and we have had to drain the pond and remove all the newts, frogs and toads to a neighbour's pond. Some were quite large and clearly ready to spawn - but they will be happy with Ian.
While Bill was moving part of the liner, he spotted this beautiful grass snake. We didnt want to disturb its habitat too much so have moved it to a damp place near a wood pile in the shade where I hope it will stay. It had such lovely colouring and was around 24 inches long.
