Carlisle Castle

It's so great to be able to visit places again, and finally do a birthday castle trip after two lockdown birthdays! This is part of a tradition that began back in 2011, where my sister and I (and now husband and the kids) visit a castle we haven't been to before.

2011: Blackness Castle
2012: Crichton Castle
2013: Bothwell Castle
2013: Dunfermline Palace (in place of 2014 birthday)
2015: Aberdour Castle
2016: Doune Castle
2017: Hermitage Castle
2018: Jedburgh Castle Jail
2019: Smailholm Tower
2021: Etal Castle (visited later in the year)

We are running out of castles within reasonable day-trip distance!
