Bedraggled and Hungry

There was heavy rain overnight and lighter rain continued well into the morning. This very bedraggled greater spotted woodpecker looked like the visit to the bird feeder was only worth it if it stuffed its beak full to overflowing with fat!  It was also another very cold day, with a max temp of 12C, so I've already had the heating on for an hour this morning. This afternoon I went into the field to clear a wheelie bin full of stinging nettles, bindweed and other weeds so I can easily get to the back of my fence to put woodstain on it when the weather improves.
