An ordinary life....

In a country churchyard...

Patrica has two more days left with us before we take her to Glasgow airport on Thursday to fly home.  Booooo!  :-))

We headed to Gloagburn for lunch as Patricia has been looking for a book featuring a Heilan' Coo to take home for a friend's four year old daughter.

After a lovely lunch we wandered in the shop and Patricia found a perfect book - Bea and Brodie's Mindful Journey and we bought a goats cheese and red onion marmalade quiche and some broccoli slaw for dinner (just Patricia and I for dinner, David's meeting a friend then going to see Supergrass in Glasgow)

After Gloagburn we headed to Doune Castle (continuing our Castle theme and co-incidentally Outlander locations theme! :-) The Castle is closed for repair but we got some photos from the outside.  A bus load of people arrived and proceeded to stand in front of David and Patricia as they clamoured for the best shot and chatted excitedly about Doune Castle being Castle Leoch in Outlander.  That series is certainly doing its bit for Scottish tourism!

We headed back home via the David Stirling Monument.  The row of trees opposite hides another Outlander filming location Fraser's Ridge but we were not compelled to go find that! :-)

Back home and Patricia has started packing for her departure on Thursday, but she also packed an overnight bag as tomorrow we are heading to the Scottish Borders.  We will visit Melrose Abbey and stop at Scott's View on our way to stay at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel.

Patricia is a fan of Sir Walter Scott so we are hoping to see his burial place in the grounds.  The hotel has a complete set of the Dryburgh Edition of the Waverley Novels by Sir Walter Scott on display in the Lounge.

On Wednesday we will visit Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott, before heading home via Edinburgh airport so Patricia can have the covid test required to get back into the USA.

I will miss her when she goes.  She is fabulous company and this has felt like our holiday too.  We're enjoying being tourists in our own area :-))
